Romania / Apuseni Mountains
In April 2005, the Romanian Ministry for European Integration selected the consultant company MWH ( Belgium) to execute through its two experts the following Phare Cross Border Cooperation project:
- Elaboration of a Management Plan for 2 nature areas, the Apuseni mountains nature park (76,000 ha) in western Romania and the Cefa-Radvani wetland along the border with Hungary.
- Preparation of the Terms of Reference for the promotion of the ecotourism programme for both areas,
both were tasks of the Team Leader, Mr Alexander Zinke, Vienna, and
- Preparation of Technical Specification and Tender documents for equipment acquisition over EUR 0.5 million,
as the task of the procurement expert, Mr Michael Kay, Prague.
The project is a support to the National Forestry Administration (ROMSILVA) - regional office in Oradea, which hosts the new Administration of the Apuseni nature park (2004). The tenders for ecotourism (visitor installations) and equipment acquisition were completed in autumn 2005, the Management Plan will be ready in June 2006.
